Video: The Waterphone

You used to hear this a lot in horror movies in the 1970s.  It was used so much that it became a bit of a cliche and began to sound dated, so it went out of fashion with sound designers.  It's a shame though - such a cool sound.

I do this for a living!  And the sound in these movies is what inspired me when I was a kid.  I remember watching Ben Burtt recording the laser sounds using the metal cables in a "making of" special, and being blown away that such a job even existed.
